CCHS: A Holistic, Collaborative, and Practical Approach to Secondary Education

Homestead Collaborative College High School offers a robust 7th grade to 12th grade program which provides students daily opportunities for independence, depth of learning, and practical applications of skills.

Additionally, Homestead CCHS is the only independent Montessori program in New York to offer students the option to graduate high school with a fully-accredited college Associate Degree through our incredible partnership with SUNY Sullivan. Our students realize substantial financial savings, greater preparedness, and for many, with 60 or more credits transferring, the opportunity to dive right into higher level and focused coursework at their four year college.

This combination of individualized guidance paired with Montessori principles is the key to our students’ ability to develop as self-directed, highly creative, and compassionate individuals who are not only curious, but able to adapt and create positive changes in the world around them.

Benefits of a Homestead CCHS Education Include:

  • Low student to teacher ratio

  • Caring and nurturing environment

  • Numerous off-campus and outdoor experiences

  • Individualized academic guidance

  • Opportunity to graduate with a SUNY Sullivan Associate Degree

  • Highly-trained educators and recognized professionals

  • Opportunities for mentorship and college counseling

Our School Profile

Montessori Philosophy and Integrated Curriculum

We offer an Integrated Curriculum that combines math, science, humanities, arts, and aligned life skills into a project-based program. This deep contextualized learning allows students to understand the meaning and purpose behind their core academic studies. The Montessori philosophy prioritizes holistic development through daily mentorship. Students and staff work together to create an atmosphere rooted in peace, justice, and equity.

Experiential & Regenerative Studies

Homestead is helping to pioneer an integrated and ethical approach to traditional STEM studies. Our eSTEAM curriculum provides students with opportunities to develop their skills in coding, robotics, digital design, fabrication, cooking, applied mathematics, woodworking, landscaping, permaculture design, and building projects. We apply the permaculture lens of Earth, People, and Future Care Ethics by prioritizing regional concerns and service learning. Our Regenerative Studies curriculum emphasizes revitalizing the planet and our local communities.

Early College & Specialized Tracks

Many of our students choose to pursue a Liberal Arts & Sciences Associate Degree. This degree gives them the opportunity to explore a wide range of electives in the Humanities, Arts, Literature, Math, and Sciences. More specialized pathways such as Nursing or Computer Science are also available. Students have the opportunity to build a solid foundation in the required core subject areas, while exploring a full college catalog. Early college enrollment allows students to learn more about themselves, their interests, and how they might want to contribute in the future.

Outcomes

CCHS graduates earn a New York State High School Diploma with the option to complete an Associate Degree from SUNY Sullivan.

Our students have been admitted to and have enrolled in a wide range of four-year colleges and universities from leading small liberal arts colleges, to highly recognized and regarded large universities both private and public. Students have been offered generous and competitive financial aid packages.
