Meibell Contreras

Meibell Contreras is a computer scientist and educator. She worked for 20 years in technology as a Software Developer, Project Manager, and Tech Leader before discovering her love for teaching in 2012 while leading a Columbia University community program. Since then, she has taught STEM and Spanish to students of all ages—elementary, middle, and high school, as well as adults—in schools, homeschool groups, and community programs.

In 2023, she and her husband moved from New York City to Upstate New York. There she built a tiny house, learned woodworking, and continued teaching. In 2025, she began teaching Spanish, Coding, and Robotics at CCHS.

In her youth, Meibell was a competitive athlete. She swam for her country’s national team, broke records in freestyle events, completed a half Ironman at 17, and competed in international sailing regattas.

Today, besides teaching, she enjoys traveling, hiking, swimming, and knitting.
