Star Torbert
Star Torbert is a graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she earned a degree in Black Studies with a minor in Sociology. With a strong foundation in the performing arts developed through specialized middle and high school training, she brings creativity, discipline, and innovation into every space she enters.
At New Paltz, Star was a dynamic leader and advocate, dedicated to enhancing the student experience through intentional, student-centered work with a focus on health, wellness, and the arts. Her leadership roles included Ms. Black and Gold 2023, Model Coordinator, Creative Director, and Senator for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She also served on committees related to Health and Justice, Women’s Health, Programming, and Sustainability, and now remains active in the NAACP.
In recognition of her impact, Star received a Distinguished Senior Award honoring her contributions to the university community. Guided by her mission to connect, heal, help, and create, she continues to lead with purpose and a vision.
