March 1st – First round application deadline for prospective families. Late applications accepted as space allows.
Application materials for the next school year should be submitted by March 1st for first-round decisions. We will continue to accept and review applications that are received after March 1st, provided spaces are still available in the requested program. Early applicants will be at an advantage and therefore, we recommend that families begin the process as soon as possible. Once classrooms are full, applicants will be placed on a waiting list and notified if a space becomes available.
Application & Enrollment Process
Step 1: Family Tour
Prospective families are invited to tour the school. Please request a private tour for your family here.
Step 2: Application
Interested families should submit an Application for their child.
Step 3: Apply for Financial Assistance (Optional)
Homestead School offers limited tuition assistance to current and incoming families based on financial need. Parents can submit an application online for financial aid if desired.
Note: Applications for first-round financial aid decisions are due January 1. Later Financial Aid applications will be considered in the order they are received, based on need and available funds.
Step 4: Student Visit
A Student Visit to attend a day of classes may be requested especially for older applicants.
Step 5: Enrollment Conference (Registration)
Upon acceptance for admission, families of applicants will be asked to attend a Registration & Enrollment Conference. Prior to the conference you will be asked to complete enrollment information online.A $75.00 enrollment fee will be due at that time.
2018-2019 Tuition and Fee Schedule of Twelve (12) Monthly Payments
Twelve (12) tuition payments begin on April 20. A delayed payment schedule is available for those registering late or for those with current daycare expenses. Tuition paid in advance and in full will receive a 2% annual discount. Multi-student discounts are also available.
About Financial Aid
The financial aid program provides a limited amount of need-based aid to families who might not otherwise be able to attend the Homestead School. At present, financial aid funds are made available through the Homestead School and we offer partial aid packages.
In order to allocate our resources wisely and fairly, the Homestead School has enlisted the help of the TADS program to evaluate each family’s financial information. All findings from TADS are kept confidential. Analysis is then reviewed by the school’s Directors, who determine the final allocation of financial aid resources for the coming school year.
The Homestead School Directors consider a number of factors including, but not limited to, the following:
- Each family’s overall financial circumstances, including adjusted gross income, assets, indebtedness and discretionary expenses
- Demonstrated financial need
- The school’s enrollment goals
- Families currently enrolled at Homestead School will be prioritized.

Financial aid grants are made for one year only, and therefore, you must re-apply each school year.

The application process is self-guided. You may navigate in and out of the program, allowing you to partially complete an application and go back to it at another time. Online email support and a 24/7 helpline are available to assist you through TADS. There is a $39.00 application fee, to be paid by credit card upon completion of the session.
Statement of Policy

The school is located at the directors’ one hundred fifty year-old family homestead on eighty-five acres of fields, woods, marshes, ponds, and streams, twenty minutes north of Port Jervis and twenty-five minutes south of Monticello.

Busing is currently provided for K-8 students living in the Sullivan West, Port Jervis, Monticello, & Eldred School Districts. Many families outside these districts choose to carpool. The Homestead School encourages and helps to facilitate this.
